We stopped by for dinner service and there was like a 15min wait for mid week. Ordered General Fulton's Prime Rib and it was spot on perfectly cooked. Wait staff was friendly and sociable. Another perfect Disney experience.

We were staying on property for the food and wine festival and after a day of mini plates and lots of alcohol, I needed a real meal! So being exhausted and not wanting to go far we opted to go here it was 925pm and they stop taking guests at 930. The hostess greeted us and sat us promptly. The waitress was mediocre. My husband and shared the short ribs over cheesy grits. The short ribs were extremely salty (and this is coming from a girl who loves her food well seasoned) but the cheesy grits helped balanced them out. The really great part about this place was the free cornbread!---delicious!!! All in all not a bad place to visit if you don't want to travel far...

I definitely enjoy the fact that at my favorite resort area (Port Orleans: French Quarter) there is a restaurant that is within walking distance at the Port Orleans: Riverside. It has a good menu selection, despite following the Disney limited menu options format. My very picky wife was able to easily find something she wanted to eat. I also heartily enjoyed my food selections, which were: Cajun Seasoned Crawfish Bites (*****), Slow Roasted Prime Rib (****), and Butterscotch Creme Brulee (****). I always get the Disney Dining Deluxe Plan when I go to Disney. As always, Disney themes this restaurant expertly, trying to make it seem like you're in an old dry-dock for ship building. They have ferry-themed construction blueprints on the walls as well as old word-working tools. My only issue with the restaurant is that they have a weird seating agenda. We had a group of six crammed at a table probably meant for 4, and there was a table for six that remained empty the entire time we at touching elbows, and this has happened before when I've been to this restaurant. The last time it was just my wife and I, and we were sat at a huge table, and saw a family of 6 or 7 crammed into a table that my wife and I could have easily fit at.

If you come here only once, then you must get the Andouille-crusted Catfish. It's the divine delicious dish of any Disney's dining. On top of that, they serve cornbread! It's freshly baked and great with a bit of butter. The service was friendly. The prices were fairly reasonable. The decor is awesome. I love looking all the tools it took to create a ship. Plus the ship wooden frame above the entrance is pretty neat. Though you are warned that it's extra loud in the evenings due to the live entertainment at the bar next door. If you're looking for a quiet dinner, bring ear plugs.

We had company in town who were staying on Disney property so we were looking for a place to grab dinner in one of the resorts. We ended up at Port Orleans at Boatwright's and it was a very good choice. You can drive to the resort or take a ferry ride from downtown Disney. The restaurant is built inside of an old boat building warehouse with all the accoutrements hanging from the ceiling and walls. The staff was friendly and we were able to stroll by the canal outside while waiting for our buzzer to call us to the table. There were not as many kids as many of the restaurants in the parks, which made for a somewhat quieter environment. The food is American and southern. The Prime Rib was really good as well as the grilled seafood and pasta selections of my fellow dinners. After dinner, we took a stroll around the well manicured grounds and then took the ferry to Downtown Disney to listen to outdoor live music. It was a surprise find and we will be back next time we have guests who want a Disney experience without hiking thru the parks.

This is the place for the BEST Prime Rib on Walt Disney World property. You will not find any better. The Louisiana dishes are as good as if you were on Bourbon St. This Port Orleans little hidden charm is a must.

Ate here on Christmas eve. Food was the worst we ever had on a Disney property. Would give a half star if possible. Prime rib was seared - never seen that before - tasted more like a steak. Mashed potatoes looked like they had been poured onto the plate. Other dishes were sloppily put together and extremely unappetizing. One soda was delivered with alcohol in it by mistake. Service was only so-so, some of which I write off due to them having to work on Christmas eve. Had a meal a couple of days later at the Yaught Club resort for the same price, but was much better. Disney should be ashamed of this particular dining facility. Recommend avoiding at all costs.

Absolutely loved it. One of our favorite restaurants during our Disney trip. The food was outstanding and the service, while not the best we saw at Disney, was perfectly acceptable. If you're on the Disney Dining Plan, it's best to go hungry because this place will fill you up. They start you off with delicious corn bread, and then serve up a robust entree. The desserts are wonderful. Highly recommend.

just not a great option for dining. food is unhealthy and not very inspiring. In a pinch, the Tuna sandwich was OK as it came on crusty (almost whole grain) bread and was not too mayo tasting, prices are high like rest of Disney!

Came here for the prime rib. The service, food and the look of this place won me back for a seconds stop the very next night. It's always nice to be somewhere that has happy employees.

Wow! Our last night in Disney and we decided to eat at our resort. We chose Boatwright's and we are SOOOOO glad we did! I ordered the Filet Medallions and EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING on that plate was AMAZING! I'm a food snob too. And this place was outstanding! This quickly became one of our 2 favorite places to eat. The other favorite being Raglan Road in Downtown Disney!! Go there too! I don't know about the other meals because I was with my daughter...and the kids meals are all the same in Disney. But my meal was fabulous! Service was wonderful, atmosphere is loud...so be prepared for that. Would go again!

Nice restaurant hidden in the Port Orleans hotel (Riverside). Enjoyed dinner for nine on the Disney Dinner plan. Andouille catfish, filet, and shrimp jambalaya were some of the entrees, with Banana Foster for dessert. Have been stopping here for years to get a break while visiting the parks. Always enjoy the cuisine. Appetizers were excellent. Desserts were a bit lacking, especially the banana foster on angel food cake (was a bit stringy).

My family and I came here for dinner while on vacation at Disney. It was fun to get there a little early and walk around Port Orleans. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The menu isn't incredibly extensive. I opted for a salad, and my parents both chose the jambalaya and loved it. The cornbread is super good. I'd return, but it's nothing too special. There are better options in Disney.

Cute Cajun style restaurant located in the riverside section of Port Orleans Resort. Food was good and the staff was pleasant. As with most Disney Resort restaurants there are lots of kids running around. We tried the jambalaya and the beef medallions. Both of them were delicious. The barbecued shrimp appetizer was also very good. They have a boat dock in the rear of the lobby that can take you to the French Quarter section of the resort, or a 15 min ride to downtown Disney. Overall I would say It was a very pleasant experience.

Wow...not sure if those reviewing this place either do not have a palate, are heavy smokers, or just don't care. I can say without a doubt that the food is only average. Perhaps if the food came out at least warm, another star would be added....but it didn't. Disney prides itself in customer service and quality - this place should be shut down and made into another Rain Forest Cafe, at least the food is good there. On a positive note - to show I am not just bashing the place, the Crawfish bites appetizer was great...and I mean that...ya know, I'll change this to a 2 star experience after remembering the appetizer. Come if you want, but don't expect much...

Food: 4/5 *Cornbread 5/5 Served instead of dinner rolls before the meal. These warm, crumbly pieces were just the thing to calm the raging hunger after a long day in the park... and so good in fact I had to hold back to save room for my meal! *Jambalaya 3/5 The giant shrimp on top were delicious and the flavors of the meal were well-balanced, but the jambalaya was not spicy at all! ...which to me, is a signature feature of the dish. I had higher expectations too since the New Orleans Square in Disneyland doesn't dumb down the spiciness for the theme park crowd (which I so magnificently appreciate) *Crawfish Étouffee 4/5 Delicious! Here's that spice I was looking for! Also this was a large portion, as were the other dishes at our table (save for the Jambalaya which was a more reasonable portion... which I actually appreciated) Service: 5/5 Nice and speedy! ...which is great for a jam-packed vacation. Slight mix-up where we were brought a sweet tea instead of a long-island ice tea though, hehe! Ambience: 3/5 The theming here is slightly more than casual with a fun, boathouse feel, but Boatwright's can't really overcome the 'dining hall' type feel.

Let me start by saying the food is outstanding. I had the shrimp & grits my daughter had the chicken & waffles and my wife had the pasta Pontchartrain. All 5 stars good. Service was just a tad off but they were busy and now I see why. I will absolutely be going back in the future. If my finicky daughter will clean her plate it's beyond good. Please do try this place you won't regret it.

Hands down.. The worst Disney restaurant I've ever been to. We go every year and try all different kinds of restaurants. I was super excited about the Cajun food. So beyond disappointed and livid that we wasted a table service on this place. First of all, we walked in and there were maybe 3 tables of customers. The restaurant was empty. While we waited an obnoxious amount of time to be seated in an empty restaurant, I asked the host what his favorite meal was and his reply was "oh I don't eat here". At least lie!!! Next, when we were taken to a table by a fireplace in August I asked to be sat elsewhere. I was told "I already gave her a table. She won't get to you for a while". One table per waitress apparently. Then it took FOREVER to even see our waitress and refills took up to 10 minutes. We ordered appetizers and entrees. We ordered the gumbo and fritters. Absolutely horrible. The fritters were still partially frozen. The gumbo had no flavor. My stepson ordered jambalaya. It was disgusting. It tasted like ketchup. I ordered catfish and it was cold and had this weird crunchy topping that was inedible. The waitress then came over to clear off our table and saw all our plates barely touched and never said a word. Never asked how our food was, if we liked it, was something wrong, etc. The bill came to 130 before tip. Luckily we had the dining plan and didn't pay cash for this meal. However, I am really angry we wasted our dining plan on this meal. After the waitress brought the bill for me to sign I wanted to speak to a manager but she never came back to get the bill. Horrible food. Horrible service.

The food was 5 star, but the noise! Cost it a star. Every hard surface amplified the racket. Otherwise, I had the shrimp & cheesy grits, which was fantastic. As was the corn bread, collard greens( though I have nothing to compare them to) & pecan pie. Companion had the prime rib which was very good.

  • Jay D.

Oh my goodness. The Shrimp and grits were hands down some of the best I've ever had and I've lived in the South all my life. My wife's jambalaya had a really good taste but was not quite as authentic. Still the atmosphere, the Disney signature service and friendly staff make this overall one of our favorite places on Disney property. (Oh, the pecan pie? ... get some!)

Dinner here at the Hotel. Cleanliness 5/5, Service 5/5. Very nice waitstaff. Attentive and checked on us often. Bread basket was served early. Very tasty. Shrimp Gumbo was tasty, great presentation and temperature was hot. Dinner selection was prime rib. This is why the place lost a star. I asked for medium rare, and it more rare than medium rare. The serving was cool and in now way was it warm. In fact, the prime rib was dry and appeared that it was prepared and waited for the other entries were plated. Mine was first. I knocked them down one star for a dry, cool presentation. Shrimp and grits was great, catfish was excellent.

Food was fine, but service was awful. We waited over an hour and a half for our food. Watched 4 other tables come and go. Finally got our meal after 10pm. Manager blamed the delay on a gluten free steak.

Boatwright's is a classic Disney resort food court with one exception: the design your own pasta dish station. For a really decent price you can customize your dish by choosing the type of pasta, type of sauce (or combo of sauces as I did), and mix-ins including chicken, shrimp, various herbs and veggies, and cheese. I had fettuccine with Alfredo and pesto sauces, shrimp, spinach, onions, mushrooms, and garlic. It was delicious and cooked to order! If you are staying at Port Orleans Riverside, this is a must-try.

Good food. Large portions. Unfortunately, this was near the end of our trip and we were kinda still stuffed from a big lunch but had ressies and need to use up our meal credits. Would like to go back.

Mmm! This would be a 5-star location if only the corn bread didn't have those little bits of corn kernels. Yuck! So...disgusting! Anyways, I loved the chicken and waffles, though next time I'm going to order it with "normal" syrup instead of the "balsamic reduction" stuff. Also, yuck! But the chicken was absolutely fantastic, our server was a delight, and all in all, it was a fairly nice experience :)

Let me begin this review by saying I'm a huge Disney fan. HUGE! However I am huge fan of food as well. Don't get me wrong, I know this is a theme park so one would expect theme park food. Not here though. This is the #1 vacation destination in the world so the offerings are much better than average. On with the review. Boatwrights is located at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. For the atmosphere surrounding the restaurant's exterior they get 3.75 stars out of 5. The atmoshere inside gets 2.5 out of 5. Decorated in the theme of an old world shipyard there are various ship artifacts, sternwheels, spyglasses, etc. There's even a lifesize boat under construction suspended from the rafters. The food served is New Orleans "influenced". Sort of. Cajun and southern style dishes is more like it. Limited menu of course, about 6 appetizers, 9 main dishes and 4-5 desserts. Full bar is offered which is great. The service was adequate. Very friendly and gregarious waiter, but the execution could be better, at least tonight. Should really be 2.5 or 2.75 stars. Abita Beer Sampler-Eh. New Orleans beermaker offerings. They were ok. Nothing to write home about. French Onion Soup-Good. Nothing over-the-top, but decent. House Salad-Large portion with the various fixings. Again adequate. Spinach Salad-See above. Andouille-Crusted Catfish-Served over rice and asparagus, this meal was good. Not spectacular, but good. Spicyness maybe a 4 or 5 out of 10. Decent sized portion. Voodoo Chicken-Generous size meal offering baked chicken with spices, red beans and rice and collared greens on the side. Love red beans and rice! Blackened Fish-Another good sized meal with potatoes and seasonal vegetables on the side. Good flavor. Bread Pudding-Again Eh. Skip it. All-in-all an ok dining experience. Would I return? Probably not. There are many offerings around the "World", and this just didn't stand out. But its good to try once.

Boatwright's is my #1 favorite all time place to have breakfast in Disney World. Even when I don't stay at Riverside, I make a trip here. The banana stuffed french toast is amazing. The pancakes, sausage, bacon etc is also quite good. The service is always friendly and one time they even gave my mother a recipe for the pancakes! I've never been there for lunch or dinner but I've heard from others that it is very good.

Wife and I had a very good dinner consisting of the Voodoo Chicken for myself and the Jambalaya for her. The chicken was delicious, moist and very flavorful and the collard greens were cooked to perfection. Wife's jambalaya was also very delicious, flavorful with just enough zip for you to know you were eating a Cajun dish. This place is now on the repeat list.

We stayed at Port Orleans for the first time in October 2014, and made reservations to eat right at Boatwright's. We had a long flight and were starving. We arrive right on time, at 8 and were not seated until 8:15. The restaurant was almost completely empty, with only about 5 tables having patrons. I assume this was because of a staffing issue, but I was not pleased. Our waitress was quite friendly and greeted us right as we were seated, we ordered drinks and they came quickly. It took another 20 minutes until we saw her again (the restaurant is definitely not big so I have no idea where she went to). I asked her what the least spicy chicken dish was, and she recommended the voodoo chicken. It wasn't terribly spicy, but was not good either. Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Cleanliness: 3/5

This was the best meal I had during my trip to Disney. I ordered Veggie Jambalaya, extra spicy, and it was delicious... Out of this world good. The cornbread that came with the meal was great as well. My boyfriend got ribs which he liked. We started with pimento cheese balls which were very good. Our server was very nice, as was everyone else who worked there. My only reason for knocking off a star is the atmosphere. With such awesome food, and service, they should have definitely made the restaurant look nicer. It was plain, and way too casual... Reminded me more of a quick service restaurant.

We had an exceptionally good meal at this restaurant. As a child of the south, I've eaten cornbread my whole life and theirs is honestly better than my mom's. For entrees, two did prime rib which was simply perfect. The mashed potatoes were a bit dry. Another person had the crawfish ettoufee which wasn't very spicy but still had a great flavor. The last diner had the jambalaya which again could be hotter but still had a great flavor. The bread pudding was a bit of a letdown, the pecan pie wasn't too sweet and was darn perfect. The service was perfect. Honestly, this was a situation of getting a table where we could and didn't go in expecting much. We were perfectly satisfied with the meal and would return.

We got seated right away. Our waitress was very nice and explained what out dinning plan came with. My daughter go the mac and cheese and greanbeans. She was pleased with the mac but the green beans were not very good. I had them myself. I have turkey and brown rice. It was ok the turkey was very dry I almost couldn't eat it. My mom had the BBQ shrimp for and appetizers and said the we're very good. However her main dish was lacking. The sweets at the end both got thumbs up. I would say for a 74 dollar meal I was very disappointed.

I think this is very much over looked and under rated. While everything in WDW is overpriced, I come to expect things to be too expensive. This definitely is too expensive but I really enjoyed my food. It's not at all hard to get a reservation, and you can probably walk in most days. The service was great and I really did love the food. I can't remember if I had the prime rib or short rib (sorry!) since it was a few months back but I do remember i really liked my food. I enjoyed my meal here much more than the famous Ohana. It's on my list for next trip for sure.

We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort and had the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan and were tired from the cafeteria adjacent to the Boatwright's Dining Hall. Save your breakfast points and enjoy a great dinner for the whole family. The menu here is obviously New Orleans inspired. On the meal plan, adults get a starter. We opted for the shrimp and grits as well as the romaine salad. Both were quite good. Shrimp is properly prepared and the dressing on the salad was delicious. My wife had the NY Strip while I had the regular jambalaya. The steak was perfectly prepared and quite possibly the best beef on Disney property--outside of the California Grill. The jambalaya was spicy but overwhelming. For dessert we had the pecan pie and the butterscotch creme brulee. My wife being from the deep south noted that the pecan pie was good but not like her mama made it. The butterscotch creme brulee was a touch on the rich side but really good. You can't really go by me, I think most desserts are too rich. Now the kids' food blew me away. Disney is notorious for routinely offering kids chicken fingers and mac and cheese. Boatswright's still offers those but the entrees for kids were extraordinary. I'm blessed to have both good and adventurous eaters. My son ordered the grilled fish which was truly exceptional. Well done Disney. My daughter ordered the grilled chicken which was perfectly cooked. Both also enjoyed the chicken noodle soup and fresh strawberries for dessert. I thought the soup was so good, I too ordered a bowl for myself. The service was also some of the best we have ever had on property. Our server was polished. She was great with my kids' allergies and the chef too came out. The staff made for an enjoyable evening. After eating at over 25 restaurants at Disney over the years, I can say the Boatwright's is some of the best food on the property. It's not California Grill good but quite possibly the best in its dining class. I highly recommend this restaurant and I want to thank them for a remarkable final evening on our vacation.

We had reservations at 7:20, arrived at 7:05 and was seated early, which was great. Our server was extremely attentive, kept our drinks full, cornbread full and thoroughly explained the dining plan to us. I had the prime rib, which included asparagus and potatoes. The prime rib was tasty, but came out room temperature, which I didn't like. The food was also piled on top of one another, which I also didn't care for. I had the bread pudding for dessert, which was very moist and decadent. It was served with ice cream on top, which was a nice touch! Overall, if my food would have been hot and not piled, I would have given this place 5 stars- it was nearly perfect.

The worst Disney service ever!! Over 30 tables sitting empty. Ask hostess if we could be seated. Hour wait she says .. My response - you have LOTS of empty tables . Her response "yep, that's how we roll!". Won't BE BACK!! - ever

Food was decent. Had the fried chicken with rice and green beans. Beans tasted like it came out of freezer. Food came out in like 4-5 mins...it came before our drinks. Speaking of drinks, I ordered the Mai tai....and it was HORRIBLE. The worst Mai tai ever. So much sugar, I think they added a whole lot of syrup. Other than that dreadful experience, it is family friendly. Service was fine.

We ate at the restaurant last night and enjoyed it so much we returned tonight. The staff are awesome and the food delicious. The French Onion Soup came out with lots of oozy cheese and the taste of the broth was sublime. The star of our meal was the Shrimp and Grits. Cheesy creamy grits with peppers, onions and mushrooms that add a juicy level of flavor with lots of crunchy, perfectly cooked shrimp. We HAD to order this again. Large portions, so we shared this and tried two appetizers tonight. Crawfish Bites and Pimento Cheese Fritters with Pepper Jelly. The crawfish wasn't my bag, but my husband liked them. The cheese fritters were fabulous! We had a fantastic experience with the staff both nights.

My husband and I ate here while staying at Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside during our Memories Vow Renewal Ceremony. The restaurant is nautical themed and they serve New Orleans flair cuisine. I had the jambalaya and it was okay at best, the rice was mushy and pasty and they somehow managed to make it spicy while simultaneously flavorless. My husband had the grits and shrimp plate and his dinner was excellent. I wish I'd ordered his rather than the jambalaya. Our server was a delight and exceptional at his job. Our hostess was extremely friendly as well. The wait for our dinner was moderate. The ambiance was lacking and we were seated a bit to close to other guests. We could hear every word of their conversation and they could hear every word of ours, I'm sure. The prices were high, as to be expected at Disney, but not overly so. All in all, I wish I'd chosen a different restaurant and most likely wont be returning. There are just too many great restaurant options on disney property to settle for anything short of the best.

Ate here with 2 children and hubby. This was the best meal we had at Disney World! My husband and I both got appswith our meals. He ordered the deep fried pimento cheese balls and was kind enough to share. It came with a pepper jelly that complemented the cheese very well. I ordered the meat and cheese tray. It, too, was good and plenty enough to share with the table AND a little back to the room. We both ordered the prime rib with horseradish potatoes. Forget that this is a new Orleans style restaurant for a minute and order this! It's THAT good. As far as the kids go, they ordered typical kid fare and had no complaints. For dessert, though, they both had Sundays and loved that they were able to assemble them themselves. The Pecan pie I had was goodand would have only been made better if it has been served hot. Southern thing, maybe. :)

Great food, service and huge portions. We had a great (free) meal here on the Disney Dining Plan. My sister and I split a NY Steak and Shrimp Pasta. Both were huge servings of quality ingredients. We only got through half the pasta dish! The atmosphere was moderately upscale, yet relaxing. Our server was very attentive. Even though your meal is paid by the dining plan, they still work hard for their tip. Definitely recommend Boatwright's for adults and families without young children. We didn't see many kids under 12 and that was a huge benefit for us! Boatwright's was our favoirte of our three sit-down meals on the property.

We ate at Boatwright's the first night we arrived at WDW. We didn't have reservations this Saturday night, but the wait wasn't too long. I had very low expectations as the restaurant looks like glorified iHop. Because I'm gluten free now (Hashimoto's Disease), the chef came out and talked to us. He recommended several gluten free options - and several options that could be made gluten free. I had a fish with a green tomato sauce with the Chef's recommendation. It was AMAZING! I almost licked the bowl for the yummy green tomato sauce. I think my husband had gumbo, which he said was good. But, we both loved the green tomato sauce. Great option at Port Orleans! The piano bar was going strong next door - I wish we could have hung out there for a while after.

Bring back the breakfast! The baguette French toast was the only reason I came here and it's been gone for years. Disney I don't understand your logic here at all. This was the only place at port Orleans to have a great breakfast, always busy. I used to walk over every morning from the French quarter for this. I will not be back at this restaurant until this returns!

As Disney fans, I'm sorry to say we did not enjoy this restaurant. Even tho we made a reservation, they made us wait nearly 30 min as we watched them seat people who approached the hostess stand without reservations after we arrived and with reservations later than ours. Our waitress was slow as molasses. For some reason, she took the drink menu from our table before we ordered our meal and even tho we asked her to bring it back when we ordered, a few minutes later she dropped it off at our table and didn't come back on the table until we were eating our food. So, no drinks for us. My prime rib was the toughest prime rib I've ever encountered. And our fish was supposed to be redfish but I swear it was tilapia. It smelled and tasted fishy and the flavor was bad. We usually always order dessert but we couldn't take any more of this place and just wanted to leave. And of course, it took even longer to get the check and pay. We were pretty annoyed by the end. Needless to say, even tho the suggested tip was 18-20%, we gave only 10%. And even that, IMO, was too much. To sum it up: there was a couple seated near us who had a reservation 5 minutes after ours and they were done and gone before us--and they had drinks + dessert. We will definitely not be returning to Boatwright's. P.S. The Riverside resort's food court as well as the bar near Boatwright's were both better.

I have been here a few time and it never disappoints. I have tried everything on menu and it is all great. Some of my favorites are the shrimp n grits and gumbo. The cornbread they give you to munch on is awesome. Great atmosphere for groups with kids or just a couples night out very casual.

Food is decent but the service is slllooowwww! Even the check in was slow. The hostess table was not very friendly either. Not a good impression of DPO: Riverside hotel. Our first night using our Disney Dining plan, and I didn't realize that the DDP didn't offer appetizers anymore, as they used to. The girls wanted onion soup, so I didn't mind paying the $6 per person more for the extra appetizer. After waiting for eternity, the soup finally came. Found out the kitchen lost our ticket, and the waitress never told us the reason for the delay. Ok, so who's fault? Whoever's fault it was, we suffered. Soup was good, but not sure if its worth $6. The entrees were good. Not great. I expected more from the reviews I read, but the medallions were ok. The girls had the jumbalaya and the pasta, and they said it was good, not great. Dessert was just ok too. We ended up taking 1 dessert back to the room, and compared it to another Disney's restaurant. The other restaurant did a better job. When the bill came, the waitress casually mentioned that the soup was comp'd because it took so long. That bumped them up a star. She could have mentioned or apologized 45 minute earlier, as we were passing out from hunger (or offered more corn bread). Like Jennifer L, debating between 3 or 4 stars. 4 stars for comping us the soup, even though they lost our ticket Overall grade: C

This review is based on the fact that they has to get "approval" from the chef to place a order to go. Reality check, this ain't a 5 star restaurant, nor has the cook, I mean chef won a Michelin star!

Was debating between 3 and 4 stars since I wasn't completely blown away but it was a solid meal, service was friendly and attentive, and we had a great time. We were waiting for a few friends, which was taking a LOT longer than expected, and the server was completely fine about it and didn't make a fuss. Eventually we gave up waiting and just started to order. For drinks, I started with the Abita beer sampler. 3 smaller portions of Purple Haze, Amber, and Turbodog. Definitely enjoyed them all. Cornbread came out to the table and I enjoyed it. I don't think it's the most AMAZING cornbread ever but I usually like whole kernels in my bread. But the stuff has a cult following apparently. Started with the chicken and sausage gumbo and I devoured it. Just enough kick for the tame eaters, i could have used a little more hot sauce. Sadly, looking at the menu I honestly can't remember what I ate, and of course I didn't take a photo. Pork chop maybe? I remember enjoying whatever I had. My friend had the vegetarian jambalaya and said it was really good. I was trying to restrain from getting dessert but I saw the New Orleans Bread Pudding. Probably my favorite part of the meal! SO GOOD. So I would definitely go here again but I wouldn't venture out to Port Orleans JUST to go here. However if I was meeting friends at River Roost for late drinks, then definitely!

The menu looked so promising! Service was excellent as expected. Food was awful. Signature dish was jambalaya, and it was really weak. Where was the roux? It was a bowl of rice, with Cajun spices, tossed a few shrimp in, chunks of chicken, and quartered hillshire sausage. No offense to hillshire. Kids cheese pizza was terrible! How the hell do you mess that up? I had an overcooked piece of catfish. What can you say....avoid.

Boatwright's swept me off my feet! I wasn't expecting much from this restaurant located inside Disney's Port Orleans, Riverside Resort but between the food, our server, and the smiles, it completely won me over. Our server, was maybe the best server I've ever had. She was patient, very friendly, always there for us, knowledgeable, and refilled my brother's iced tea over 10 times (disgusting, I know)... and even brought him a to-go cup for the walk back to our hotel. She was amazing and I wish I had remembered her name so I could drop it here for ya- she was from Spain, if that helps at all. This was prob my fave Disney dining experience. We started with the BBQ fried shrimp over the friend green tomato salad with chunks of cornbread and it was the perfect start. It was absolutely to die for. I swear to you, it killed me to have to split it with my fam. Next time, I might just get this as my entree. For dinner I got the pasta with shrimp, which is also available with chicken or vegetarian style. I stuck with the shrimp and wasn't disappointed. There had to have been like 10 giant shrimp in this scrumptious pasta dish that included spinach, olives, eggplant, zucchini, and more. Also, you won't be disappointed with the portion size. I had a ton of food leftover to take back to our room. I was stuffed! But my second stomach (reserved for dessert) was needing a little treat. I got the bananas foster angel food cake. It's only $5 so I figured it was prob teeny and I would have room in my gubby for it- WRONG! You could have fed a family of 4 for a week off this bad boy. It was delicious and huge and totally the reason I left the resort with my top pants button unbuttoned with a scarf tied around my now distended belly. That night, I went to sleep thinking I might die the sweet death of overindulgence... or maybe hemorrhaging from the inside out.

This place was a pleasant surprise. We were hungry and didn't feel like going to downtown Disney so we ate here. My short ribs were very good and cheese grits were top notch. Wife got N.Y. strip. I had low expectations but it was good size and good eats. We were on meal plan so I'm not sure I'd spend $30 for steak but it's Disney and you'll find a lot of overpriced meals. Decor is drab and lacks atmosphere. Service nice and mostly attentive. Oh and Pecan pie was above average as well as corn bread!

Good food, eh service. The hostess was super friendly, but our waitress was nothing to write home about. Even though I know they had an Abita beer sampler, I would never have known since our waitress didn't try to engage us at all. Didn't give us a drink menu, didn't try to tell us about the food at all, and disappeared for long periods of time. I was going to get the Chicken and Andouille Gumbo until I asked if it was a cup or a bowl and the waitress downplayed it saying it was closer to a cup. For $6.49, no thanks. So we both got the Romaine, Parmigiano-Reggiano Croutons and Prosciutto Salad served with a "Green Goddess" type dressing. Very generous portion, lots of cheese, and the prosciutto was crisped. My wife got the Andouille-Crusted Catfish with cayenne butter sauce and chive aioli ( foodspotting.com/reviews… ) which was served over rice with asparagus. Very generous portion again and it had a nice spice, which was nice as some times spicy cuisines are moderated for a more general audience. I got the Grilled Pork Chop with Amber Ale Barbecue Sauce, Cheesy Grits, and Onion Rings ( foodspotting.com/reviews… ) which was very good as well. Probably a 9 ounce chop and the barbecue sauce was very good with a slight kick to it, as did the cheesy grits. However I had ordered it medium and it was more like medium well to well done except by the bone. Since our waitress was hard to pin down, my choice was to not eat at all or pick at it until I could flag her down. I asked if that was medium to her and she said it was, so I let it go. Too bad it wasn't more moist (also a by-product of pork being overbred to be lean), because the flavors were really good. We were stuffed so we passed on dessert and our waitress unceremoniously dropped off our check which earned her an unceremonious 15% tip. All in all, I'd give Boatwright's three stars as it's decor is just okay, it's loud and the service was subpar, but the food was very flavorful.

Pretty good quality food except everything was uniformly SALTY. The Crawfish dish had some ok spice to it for a tourist place but after a few bites it became inedible due to the salt. Ditto for the potatoes and the fried oysters. If we had been paying attention during the oyster appetizer we would've updated our order to low salt. Probably not a very healthy place to eat if you've been out in the sun all day. You will not feel good the next morning.

The prime rib was off the chains and the horse radish mashed potatoes and asparagus were amazing too
